Drummond Bank – Improved Bandwidth… Less Cost?

Drummond Bank in Chiefland, Florida had a problem. Their MPLS WAN wasn’t giving them the horsepower they needed to efficiently run their banking applications, IP based Telephone System, Video Conferencing, etc. at the same time. To get more bandwidth they would have to spend thousands more per month (up to $30K per year). On a trial basis, DataComm implemented the Riverbed Steelhead WAN Optimization appliances at their Main Office and four of their six branch locations. The Main Office is configured with a 2xT1 (3Mbps) MPLS Connection with CoS. Each branch is configured with a T1 (1.5Mbps) MPLS Connection. Once installed, the Riverbed appliances optimized their compressible traffic more than 3x to each branch office and up to 55 times at their Main Office. Bottleneck gone! Branches are screaming with average WAN traffic at 4.15Mbps.
